Guidance for candidates to let them know what to expect on test

Following our announcement last week we have published guidance on GOV.UK for candidates to let them know what to expect on the day of their theory test and practical test.

Theory tests

For the theory test, the guidance includes:

  • using floor markings to keep people 2 metres apart
  • spacing workstations and chairs to keep people at least 2 metres away from other people
  • extra cleaning of the test centres
  • using protective transparent screens at the reception desk
  • providing hand sanitiser when candidates arrive and leave
  • cleaning workstations, including computers and headphones, before every test
  • coming into the test centre alone

Find out what will happen during the theory test.

Driving and motorcycle tests

The practical test guidance includes:

  • wearing a face covering if you are able to
  • not arriving for your test more than 5 minutes before the appointment time
  • candidates being directed back to the driving test centre if they make a serious or dangerous fault
  • what to do if you or someone you live with (or in your support bubble) has coronavirus symptoms
  • use of DVSA waiting rooms and toilets

Find out what will happen during the driving test.

What happens next

Over the next few days we are continuing preparations so that our test centres and examiners are ready.

This includes a phased returned of the trainer booker service and the online business service from 6 July. We’ll update you on this later this week.

We will also keep the situation on local lockdowns under review.

RE: Coronavirus COVID-19

Suspension of lessons.

Due to the on-going seriousness of the Coronavirus crisis, and the need to adhere with government social distancing guidelines, it is with regret that I have taken the decision to suspend all lessons with immediate effect.
It is a decision I haven’t taken lightly, and I hope you understand that it is the socially responsible thing to do in the current climate.
This will initially be for a period of 1 month, but dependent on government guidelines at the time, I will revisit the situation and contact you should I be in a position to start again.
As previously mentioned all Practical tests have been cancelled for 3 months, so for those of you who have had tests cancelled, I will contact you to discuss your options when we find out your new test date.
As always, please feel free to contact me directly if you would like to discuss this matter further.
Please all look after yourselves.
Kindest regards

John

JFM Driving Tuition STATEMENT

RE: Coronavirus COVID-19

In an attempt to address any concerns you may have regarding your driving lessons during the current situation with COVID-19 Coronavirus, I felt it prudent to try to provide you with some reassurances.

Your On-going Lessons

Although the nature of driving instruction involves us both being in close proximity with one other, there are actions we can take to ensure your lessons are as safe as possible.

You are no doubt aware of how clean the cockpit of your training vehicle is kept under normal circumstances. However for the last 2-3 weeks, since the intensity of the situation has increased, all flat surfaces, and particularly those of the controls and seat-belts, have been wiped down between each lesson using Dettol anti-viral surface cleansing wipes. I have then used alcohol based hand sanitising gel, to clean my own hands.

To enhance these steps from Mon 16th March, you are kindly requested to also use the sanitiser before we commence your lesson.

Also, in line with government guidance, please do not attend your lesson if you or anyone in your household, displays any of the following symptoms:-

  • High temperature 37.8c
  • New persistent cough.
  • Shortness of breath.

In such circumstances, if you could kindly call to cancel your lesson asap, and we will pause your tuition for 14 days. I will also advise you should I present such symptoms, via text.

Theory and Practical Driving Tests

The DVSA has issued assurances to instructors regarding the cancellation or reschedule of both tests due to COVID-19.

If either you, or I have symptoms, they will re-arrange the test to a new date free of charge even at short notice (which would normally be a 3 day limit)

Note – If you arrive at the test centre and it is believed you are suffering with these symptoms, you will be turned away, and no test will take place.

The COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak is obviously a rapidly changing situation, and I will monitor it and update you constantly, and will follow any government, and NHS guidance completely.

Please find more information on the NHS Website (link below)

I hope this information is useful to you and with these measures we can both keep each other and our families and friends safe and healthy.

Many thanks

John
